Ups and Downs of the Week

Detroit Tigers – Swept the Yankees from the ALCS. Now they need to do the same in the World Series.

Weather – The weather has been crappy since we got back from vacation. Usually this time of year we have sunny days in the 70’s and I’m driving the Z4 daily. It hasn’t budged from the garage since we left for the UK over a month ago.

Ups and Downs of the Week

MLB Playoffs – All four series went to 5 games and all were well played.

Fox Sports – Fox Sports channel Speed TV lost their Formula One coverage contract. They tried to lowball Formula One Management (FOM) and FOM went with another broadcaster (supposedly NBC). Fox Sports is changing their scope to include more baseball (which they’ll ruin as well) and wanted F1 gone, I guess. I sure hope NBC shows the races and qualifying live.

Ups and Downs of the Week

Home Again – We had a great trip to the UK, but after nearly two weeks away, it’s good to be home.

Head Colds – Sarah and I both picked up colds heading home from the UK. Ugh.

Red Sox – This pathetic season is finally over. What a waste of money this team has proven to be.

Ups and Downs of the Week

Red Sox – They’re just playing out the string now, testing new guys and so on. Fair enough. They took one from the Yanks and beat the Jays tonight, so not all bad.

Weather – Been a nice week with warm days and cool nights. I love this time of year.

Baltimore Orioles – Still neck and neck with the Yanks.

Rokinon 35mm f1.4 – Love this lens. I don’t use it enough.

Ups and Downs of the Week

Red Sox – I didn’t think it could get worse, but it has. No will to win at all, it seems.

Formula One – Back-to-back race weekends. This weekend they’re at Monza, which is another very fast track.

Baltimore Orioles – They’re fighting neck and neck with the Yankees for the ALE lead. It would be very cool if they took the ALE Championship and went on to win the World Series.

Weather – It’s been stormy all week, but it’s finally over and the weekend is supposed to be mid-70s and partly cloudy. I’m sick of the heat and humidity.

Ups and Downs of the Week.

Neil Armstrong – Neil Armstrong died this week. Armstrong was one hell of a courageous man. To go to the moon in a tiny capsule and step out there into the unknown took some serious guts. And yet upon his return he quietly went about his business with no fanfare or hoopla. His dignity matched his courage. He was the epitome of an American hero. And he was one of a small group of moon walkers that is getting smaller all the time.

Weather – More much needed rain this weekend, but sadly it’s going to rain all through the long weekend thanks to Isaac.

Red Sox – ‘Nuff said.

Formula One – F1 returns this weekend and it’s at Spa-Francorchamps, which is a classic circuit with the greatest turn in all of racing, Eau Rouge.

Ups and Downs of the Week.

Red Sox – Or rather, the apparent looming trade with the Dodgers. Gone will be Adrian Gonzales, Carl Crawford, Josh Beckett, and Nick Punto. That’s a lot of salary gone. And a couple of misfits and malcontents to boot.

New Floor –The bookshelves are all back in place. Oh my aching back.

Ups and Downs of the Week.

Weather – We finally got some rain and now the temps are back to what would be considered normal. Hope it stays this way.

Red Sox – They still stink and are still 2 games under .500, but Buchholz pitched a complete game gem tonight and got the win despite some defensive blunders by the Keystone Kops playing behind him.

Red Sox – They keep finding ways to lose. They’ve dropped two in a row to the lowly Twins. Just bad.

Gas Prices – I can’t see any reason other than greed for a 70 cent per gallon spike in a week.

Drought – It’s already too late for the corn, but the soybeans are reaching the point of no return now. If we don’t get rain soon, they’ll be lost as well. The ditch in the second picture should be half full of water.
