March 2013

I went down to Lake Charleston today to see if the eagles would show up again. One came by after an hour or so, but never really got close enough for decent shots. I got to see him pluck a fish out of the lake, but he was almost a mile away while doing it. Too far for a decent shot. I got a few usable images when he was at his closest point to me, but that was still a half mile or so.

I was at the local reservoir today (Lake Charleston) just to look for good spots to bird watch. I saw this guy sailing in over the treetops and was pleasantly surprised when I looked through my lens and saw it was a bald eagle. Later a juvenile bald eagle joined in the fun.

Graceful, but ugly. Although they’re really not so different from bald eagles from the neck down.

Ok, so it’s not a raven. Mea culpa. Don’t expect to see me eat crow, though.
