September 2012

We spent a good part of the day in the Charing Cross/Leicester Square/Trafalgar Square area. I took the opportunity to try out some candid shot of Londoners.

Ups and Downs of the Week

We’re in England this week and next, so I’m hoping for no downs. Here are some pics from today.

We were driving on the A303 on our way to Stonehenge today and we were famished. We saw a sign for The Swan Inn that claimed they had great food. We decided to take a chance and turned off the highway. The road took us through a small town called Barton-Stacey and there was The Swan Inn. Very much a small village pub type place. The new owner greeted us and had us ordering pub sandwiches in minutes. Sarah had cheddar and tomato chutney and I had haddock and fries. The sign was correct, great food and excellent coffee. What I wouldn’t give for a place like this near us in IL.

Then it was on to Stonehenge. I have many pics, but I don’t have time to process them all right yet. Here’s one, though. Big day here tomorrow with it being the Autumnal Equinox. I’m not sure what the average crowd is at Stonehenge, but it was quite busy today.

Stonehenge

We made it to our B&B in Glastonbury just before nightfall. Very nice place called Chestnuts. This is the view from our room.

Our new sofa and recliner were delivered today. Very comfy, as you can see.

Ups and Downs of the Week

Red Sox – They’re just playing out the string now, testing new guys and so on. Fair enough. They took one from the Yanks and beat the Jays tonight, so not all bad.

Weather – Been a nice week with warm days and cool nights. I love this time of year.

Baltimore Orioles – Still neck and neck with the Yanks.

Rokinon 35mm f1.4 – Love this lens. I don’t use it enough.

Ups and Downs of the Week

Red Sox – I didn’t think it could get worse, but it has. No will to win at all, it seems.

Formula One – Back-to-back race weekends. This weekend they’re at Monza, which is another very fast track.

Baltimore Orioles – They’re fighting neck and neck with the Yankees for the ALE lead. It would be very cool if they took the ALE Championship and went on to win the World Series.

Weather – It’s been stormy all week, but it’s finally over and the weekend is supposed to be mid-70s and partly cloudy. I’m sick of the heat and humidity.

This was shot today about 8:30AM on my way to work.

Moon Set

Someone told me the moon looked better when it wasn’t so full and bright and had more contrast. So tonight I ran outside and shot this handheld and manually focused. I think they were right. I like the less-than-full moon.
