Rant

Ups and Downs of the week.

Formula One – One of the few races I get to watch live. Canadian Grand Prix this weekend.

Gulf Oil Gusher – A disaster of enormous proportions. And no end in sight. The stock market repercussions haven’t even begun yet.

Celtics – They’re not going to lay down and let LA walk all over them.

Red Sox – Despite the blowout tonight, they had a so-so road trip that should have been a chance to gain serious ground on NY and TB.

Ups and Downs of the week.

New York City – Heading home tomorrow, but it’s been a great week. Fantastic restaurants here.

Offshore drilling – No more permits until the oil companies can prove they can stop disasters like this.

Red Sox – They sweep the Rays, best team in the majors (in their own park, no less), and then falter against a paltry team like Kansas City at Fenway. I just don’t understand.

Summertime – It’s here in full bloom.

Plantar Fasciitis – Severely curbed my walking in NYC. Ouch.

Celtics – Finally got past the Magic. Celtics-Lakers in the finals. A classic matchup.

Ups and Downs of the week.

Cool Cars -Went by Isringhausen today. Lots of awesome machines.

Oil Spill – What a mess.

Red Sox – Just when you think there’s hope, they play like doo-doo again.

Little bit of time off – I need it.

Ups and Downs of the week.

Formula One – Monaco this weekend. Best race on the circuit. My dream is to see a Monaco GP in person. Unless I hit the lottery, it’ll never happen, though.

Drill baby, drill! – Maybe not so much.

Bruins – I never expected them to get this far, but it’s sad that they blew a 3-0 series lead and a 3-0 lead in Game 7. Gonna be a long off-season for those guys.

Red Sox – Looking steadier. Offense is coming around and the starting pitching is slowly finding the groove.

Celtics – Made the Cavs look like amateurs. On to the Magic.

Highway Construction – It’s that time of year again. Seems they never finish it.

Weather – Aside from the occasional shower, the weather has been awesome. I love temps in the 60s and 70s.

Spies of the Balkans – Alan Furst’s new book is out. Can’t wait to read it. He is always excellent.

400th Post – Small milestone here on Randomography.

New Garage Door – No more worries about it falling in on the cars.

Ups and Downs of the week.

Formula One – Back in Europe. The best part of the season.

Disasters -Tennessee floods, oil spill in the gulf, tornadoes all around. Nasty spring so far.

Red Sox- They swept the Halos, but they lost a game tonight to the Yankmees. Beckett has some serious head problems. Is there a shrink in the house?

Bruins – Dealing with it. They lost a hard fought game tonight, but I’m sure they’ll prevail and move on.

Celtics – They looked awesome for a couple of games, but LeBron and the Cavs aren’t going to roll over and die.

Stock Market -A typo can throw the whole system into a tailspin?

School’s Out – No more classes. Just have to write a thesis and I’m done.

Ups and Downs of the week.

Alma Driscoll - My 9th grade English teacher turned 100 this week. She was simply the best teacher I ever had. I can attribute my grammar and writing skills directly to her supreme skill as an educator. She was 63 when she was presiding over my English class. That was 37 years ago. Amazing. Hats off to you, Mrs. Driscoll.

Celtic Crossroads – We saw this show last night at EIU’s new arts center. Astoundingly talented performers. Very enjoyable show.

Petty Politics – It’s a sin that the bozos in Washington get paid at all.

Common Sense – Finally the legislature here has seen the light, so to speak, and is allowing conservative window tinting on the driver and passenger windows. Now I can get my X5 front windows done so they all match.

Ups and Downs of the week.

Springtime Weather – I know this is a repeat, but this past week was great. Sunshine and 60 degrees every day.

Health Care Battle – Congress can’t get anything right. And let’s face it, there will never be consensus as long as ignorant zealots on either side refuse to bend.

Ups and Downs of the week.

Springtime Weather – Wednesday was awesome. Great day for a top-down commute on backroads.

Recession – Seems like a depression in everything but the name. This state, along with many others, is deeply in debt and there’s no end in sight. In fact, it looks like it’s going to get a lot worse. Our elected officials at all levels have certainly failed us.

Motorola RAZR – I finally gave up on my new LG EnV3. It just wouldn’t work right with the Bluetooth system in my car. I switched back to my trusty RAZR and all is well again.

The Return of F1 and Michael Schumacher – This is going to be a great season. And it started today.

Top Notch Graphic Design – This is the logo for the upcoming Book Blogger Convention to be held in NYC this May, alongside Book Expo. It flawlessly and precisely depicts the scope and location of the convention. A hearty “Well done!” to whoever came up with this design. It’s perfect.

Ups and Downs of the week.

Well Deserved Retirement – Capt. Sully Sullenberger announces retirement. I hope it’s a long and enjoyable one.

Unofficial St. Patrick’s Day – Today was the annual excuse for drunken stupidity on campus.

Photoshop Text – I’ve actually been having fun playing around with creating substance text.

Ups and Downs of the week.

Facebook – I finally broke down and put up a page. Kind of neat seeing so many friends and acquaintances from the past.

Budget Woes – To think we could still be a long way from the bottom. The next few years are really going to be tough.

Weather – Hardly spring yet, but it’s slowly improving.

Partisan Politics – We’re up to our knees in ice water and the idiots can do nothing but trade blame for hitting the iceberg.
